Suicide is a critical public health issue in Idaho. It brings tragic loss to families, friends, schools and entire communities across the state each year. In 2021, Idaho had the 12th highest suicide rate within the U.S.

Youth suicide in Idaho is increasing. What is being done about it?

How can Idaho address this increasing tragedy?

A senator in Iowa recently introduced a bipartisan bill that would require suicide prevention training for all licensed staff in public and private schools that serve sixth through 12th grade students. While this would only be a starting point in addressing the issue if passed, it's at least a start.
